Kildare man drowned on Brighton stag party is named
The Irishman who drowned at a seaside resort in the UK this weekend has been named as Ruairí Kelly from Maynooth in Co Kildare.
The 28-year-old drowned on Saturday night while on a stag party trip to Brighton.
He was pronounced dead in hospital after being rescued from the sea by a crewman from the Brighton RNLI lifeboat, after lifeguards and friends failed to reach him due to rough sea conditions.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the family and a post mortem examination is due to take place later this week.
