Ireland among top countries for electronic recycling
Ireland is among the top five countries in Europe when it comes to recycling electrical goods, according to the organisation overseeing Ireland's compliance with the EU's WEEE directive.
WEEE Ireland says Irish consumers have recycled more than 21 million electrical products since the directive was introduced three years ago.
That leaves Ireland fourth in the European league table for electronic recycling, behind Sweden, Norway and Switzerland.
The WEEE directive obliges producers to take responsibility for the treatment and recycling of used electrical appliances.
