Bad weather stops Tullamore Show

The Tullamore Agricultural Show has been cancelled because of the torrential rain.

Around 50,000 people were expected to attend the event at the Charleville Estate in the Co Offaly town today.

It's the second year in a row that the country's biggest one-day rural event has been cancelled because of the weather.

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen was due to open the show later today.
