35th Kilkenny Arts Festival to get underway today

The 35th Kilkenny Arts Festival is due to get underway in the Marble City today.

More than 100 events will be held over the next 10 days, attracting an estimated 85,000 visitors to the city.

The festival is worth around €10m to the local economy.

A new contemporary music strand is being added to the event this year, with stars like Mercury Rev, Spiritualized and Lisa Hannigan due to perform.
