16 rescued from trawler off Mayo coast

Sixteen crewmen have been rescued from a Spanish trawler that got into difficulty off the north-west coast this morning.

The incident happened around 300 miles off Eagle Island in Co Mayo at around 8am.

The crewmen, none of whom was injured, were picked up by another vessel which was nearby.

Their trawler is now being towed to Killybegs.
