The Consumers Association of Ireland has criticised eircom for its latest price hike.

The Consumers Association of Ireland has criticised eircom for its latest price hike.

Eircom has announced changes to its call prices which will result in an average increase to customers' bills of almost 4%.

The changes, which will take effect from the September 2, will not affect line rental charges or broadband prices.

The company says the 3.8% average increase to customers' bills is below the rate of inflation.

Chief Executive of the Consumers Association Dermot Jewell says the rise means increased pressure for customers.
