Police in the North have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 30-year-old mother-of-four in Derry at the weekend.

Jean Quigley was found dead at a house in the Cornshell Fields area of Shantallow yesterday.

She is believed to have suffered a violent death, but the PSNI has not disclosed any further details.

Neighbours say the victim was quiet and friendly and the area where she lived is in complete shock following the killing.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area between Friday and Saturday night.
