Number of cars on Irish roads rises to 2.5 million

The number of cars on Irish roads has reached a new record high after increasing last year to almost 2.5 million.

Figures from the Department of Transport show there were 1.8 million private cars on the roads at the end of last year, an increase of 6% over the previous 12 months.
