Gardaí hold man after drugs and firearms seizure
A man remains in custody in Limerick following the discovery of drugs and firearms in the city on Friday.
The discovery was made following a number of searches by gardaí at Mayorstone and the Emergency Response Unit.
The searches are part of an ongoing operation targeting criminal activity in the city.
Mayorstone gardaí recovered cocaine and cannabis worth around €60,000 along with a number of firearms and a quantity of ammunition following searches in the Ballynanty area on Friday.
The planned searches of a number of premises were part of the ongoing Garda crackdown on serious crime on the Northside.
Gardaí arrested two men who were released a short time later.
The other man in his 30s and from Limerick city remains in custody at Henry Street Garda Station.
He is being detained under Section 30 Offences against the State Act and has already had his period of detention extended.
