A man in his twenties is dead and seven others including three children are injured after a two-car crash in Co Tipperary.

It happened on the Cashel to Clonmel road shortly before 10pm last night - one of the cars involved left the road and crashed into a house.

The dead man was the driver of one the cars.

All of the injured were taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel, where one of the children is in a critical condition.

Another child has since been transferred to Waterford Regional Hospital.

The road is closed and a technical examination of the scene will be carried out.
