Forty young music fans going to the Oxegen music festival had to flee a burning bus today on the M50.

Massive disruption was caused as gardaí and ambulances rushed to the scene on the busy motorway around Dublin.

The single-deck privately-owned coach was reported to have caught fire close to Finglas, in the north of the city, at around 1pm.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.

Four Dublin Fire Brigade crews – from Finglas, Phibsboro, and Kilbarrack stations – attended the outbreak.

The AA has warned motorists to avoid the M50 completely because of massive tail-backs either side of where the coach went on fire between junctions five and six at Finglas and Blanchardstown.

Major delays are also expected on the M1 between Dublin and Belfast as a result of the emergency.
