PSNI charge teen with guesthouse murder

A 19-year-old was charged with the murder of an elderly guesthouse owner in Co Down.

Billy Spence, 68, was beaten and stabbed in the Tara guesthouse, Princetown Road, Bangor, earlier this week.

His body was discovered by his partner Constance on Tuesday morning at the bed and breakfast which he had owned for 18 years.

Police believe Mr Spence was stabbed when he disturbed the prowler after returning home in his red Honda car late on Monday night or the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The PSNI said the young man accused of the killing will appear before magistrates in Newtownards tomorrow morning.
