A convicted armed robber who left his fingerprint on a bettng docket in a bookie's office has been jailed for six years by Judge Desmond Hogan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Noel Keogh (aged 36) robbed €2,000 at Hackett's Bookmakers in Marlborough Street in the city centre on May 13, 2006 after he handed a betting slip to a female staff member and then threatened. her

Garda Jamie Jordan told prosecuting counsel, Ms Cathleen Noctor BL, that staff alerted gardaí when Keogh visited Hackett's for a second time on June 5, 2006 and he was arrested on June 22, 2006

Garda Jordan said Keogh at first denied he even knew where Hackett's shop was but was identified as the robber through his fingerprint from the betting slip and CCTV footage from other premises in the Marlborough St area placed him coming out of the bookie's office.

He was also recorded on CCTV which had been installed in Hackett's by the time of his second visit.

Keogh, of Corduff Green, Blanchardstown, was convicted by a jury in May of robbing Hackett's on May 13, 2006.

Keogh, who also had an address at South Circular Road, Rialto is serving a seven year sentence imposed by Juge Tony Hunt last November for robbing €2,106 and Stg£1,467 from Bank of Ireland, St Stephen’s Green on January 4, 2006.

Garda Jordan said Keogh had 23 previous convictions which included five years imposed in September 2002 in Monaghan Circuit Criminal Court for firearms and robbery and a four year term imposed in 2004.

Keogh is also due again for sentence on another matter at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court later this month.
