Three arrested over gun attack

Three men have been arrested by gardai investigating a gun attack in Limerick city in March.

Shots were fired at six houses on St Ita Street in St Mary’s Park on March 25.

The properties were damaged but nobody was injured in the incident.

Gardai arrested an 18-year-old youth yesterday evening while two 21-year-olds were arrested this morning.

The 18-year-old is being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act at Mayorstone Garda Station and can be detained up to 72 hours.

The 21-year-old is also being held at Mayorstone Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and can be detained for up to 24 hrs.

The other man, 21, is being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardai believe that an automatic firearm was used in the shooting incident in March.

A car used in shooting was later recovered in Co Clare.
