Plans for largest Tesco store rejected
Plans to build Tesco’s largest store in Ireland have been rejected, it was revealed tonight.
Proposals for a 130,000 sq ft supermarket at the Bridgewater retail park, near Banbridge, Co Down, are to be rejected by Planning Service.
A Planning Service spokeswoman said: “A notice of opinion to refuse planning permission has been served.
“The department awaits a formal response from the applicant.”
Local traders opposed the proposals, arguing they would damage the town centre, causing jobs losses and shop closures.
