Former Green MEP urges voters not to 'succumb' to 'Yes' vote

Former Green MEP Patricia McKenna has urged voters not to succumb to aggressive 'Yes' campaigning in the final days before Thursday's Lisbon referendum.

The 'No' to Lisbon activist has warned that the political establishment could resort to dirty tricks in their bid to push through the treaty.

Ms McKenna has said that there is nothing in the treaty that will benefit the Irish people.

“It clearly benefits the bigger countries and the more powerful in Europe,” Ms Mc Kenna said.

She has also accused the government of slandering the ‘No’ side and telling the public they have no alternative but to vote ‘Yes’.
