Wake-up call for Yes campaign as No side doubles in strength
The Minister for European Affairs has vowed to double his efforts for the Yes-to-Lisbon campaign in the wake of the latest Irish Times poll indicating a dramatic upsurge in support for the No side.
The TNS/mrbi survey shows that the number of No voters has almost doubled to 35%, while the Yes side has slipped five points to 30%.
The main reasons given for voting No were that people did not understand the treaty, and that they wanted to protect Ireland's power and neutrality.
Speaking outside the Dáil this morning, Minister Dick Roche said there is still time to convince the electorate of the massive benefits of the Lisbon Treaty.
However, with just six days to go until the polls open, the race for Lisbon still lies in the hands of the 28% of people who have not yet decided how to vote.
