Ahern says he never had overseas bank account
Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has told the Mahon Tribunal that he has never had a bank account in a foreign country.
Mr Ahern is facing a second day of questions at the tribunal today about his personal finances in the 1990s.
The questions are focusing on sterling lodgements to Irish Permanent accounts in the Drumcondra area of Dublin.
Tribunal counsel Des O'Neill put it to Mr Ahern that, seeing as he forgot about the sterling lodgements, he may also have forgotten about having a bank account abroad.
Mr Ahern replied that he never had any foreign account in any location in any form.
He told the tribunal: "I was just out working, doing my job, trying to be a leader for the country, working my butt off and then I end up with all of this. That's the story of my life."
