Martin: Scare tactic claims for treaty must be withdrawn

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin is demanding that a number of claims designed to scare voters over the Lisbon Treaty be withdrawn.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheál Martin is demanding that a number of claims designed to scare voters over the Lisbon Treaty be withdrawn.

Mr Martin has hit out at suggestions that the treaty could lead to new abortion laws being forced on Ireland or that prostitution could be legalised.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has said he does not believe the treaty changes the protection of the right to life of the unborn in the constitution.

But John McGuirk of Libertas claims European law will be able to override our laws.
