A 20-year-old Munster fan has been left fighting for his life after an attack in Bristol during the weekend.

A 20-year-old Munster fan has been left fighting for his life after an attack in Bristol during the weekend.

James Egan from Kilmihil in Co. Clare is an engineering student at the Limerick Institute of Technology.

He had been staying in the city, and was due to travel to Munster's Heineken Cup Final game in Cardiff on Saturday.

Darren O' Neill (aged 19) from Bristol was later arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody, and is due to appear before Bristol Crown Court during the week.
