Rail users face more disruption as dispute continues

Rail passengers are facing further disruption today due to a continuing dispute between Iarnród Éireann and a number of its drivers.

There were hopes that services would return to normal this morning after drivers in Cork indicated yesterday that they were preparing to resume work.

However, Iarnród Éireann says it sought commitments from the drivers that they would honour their existing work agreements and these commitments were not forthcoming.

As a result, it says services to and from Cork, Kerry and Dublin are likely to face significant disruption again today.

All morning trains from Cork to Heuston are cancelled until 4.30pm, while services from Dublin to Kent Station are cancelled all day.

The 7.15am service from Tralee to Heuston and the 6.30am Heuston to Tralee service have also been hit.
