Cork gardaí investigate sexual assault claim

Gardaí in Cork are investigating an alleged sexual assault in the city last night.

The investigation follows a report that a woman was attacked in the Deane's Street area, near the bus office in Parnell Place.

A man, said to be known to gardaí, was subsequently arrested and was taken in for questioning at the Bridewell garda station.

The victim was taken to the South Infirmary Hospital where she was treated at the sexual assault unit.
