Gardaí in Limerick have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the fatal stabbing of another teenager.

Gardaí in Limerick have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the fatal stabbing of another teenager.

The youth was arrested just before eight o'clock this morning following the knife attack at Carrig Midhe, in Westbury in Clare.

The16-year-old victim who is believed to be from Latvia was found lying on a footpath shortly after eleven o'clock last night.

He was suffering from a stab wound to the chest

He was rushed to Limerick Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Gardaí at Mayorstone Garda station are questioning the teen in connection with the death under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene of the attack has been sealed off for technical examination and the State Pathologist has been notified.
