Coastguard rescues man lost in fog off Dublin Bay
A man who became lost in dense fog in Dublin Bay this afternoon has been rescued by the Irish Coastguard.
The alarm was raised shortly before 4pm this afternoon when the man, who was the lone occupant of an eight-metre rigid inflatable boat, contacted the Coastguard by phone.
The RNLB Anna Livia was dispatched but thick fog hampered the rescue as the man was unable to motor his boat into deeper water to meet the lifeboat.
After about half an hour, the man was guided to the North Bull Wall where he was escorted back to Dun Laoghaire.
He did not need medical attention and is now safe and well.
