Teenager fights for life after beating

A teenager was fighting for his life today after suffering a brutal beating.

The 16-year-old was set upon and beaten about the head by two men in the assault in the Ballymun area of north Dublin.

Gardaí said the attack took place at around 10pm last night on Shangan Road.

Two men were arrested shortly after the attack and were taken to Ballymun and Santry garda stations for questioning.

They are being questioned under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

The 16-year-old, who suffered serious head injuries, was rushed to the intensive care unit in the Mater Hospital where he is in a critical condition.

Gardaí at Ballymun are investigating.
