Man arrested in series of Dublin raids
One man was arrested today after two guns, drugs and ammunition were seized in a series of raids.
Officers from several detective units swooped on a number of houses in the Finglas area of north Dublin at about 7.30am as part of their crackdown on serious crime.
A handgun, a sawn-off shotgun, bullets and cocaine with a street value of €70,000 were recovered in raids on three houses on McKelvey Avenue.
A 27-year-old man was detained at one of the homes while searches were carried out and he was later taken to Blanchardstown garda station for questioning.
He is being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be questioned for 72 hours.
Gardaí said the guns, ammunition and cocaine would be taken away for forensic analysis.
The planned operation involved officers from Finglas, Cabra and Blanchardstown detective units and the Organised Crime Unit.
