Alcohol bill proposes new powers for gardaí

The Government has put forward a range of new proposals aimed at tackling Ireland's alcohol problem and associated public order problems.

New legislation published today will permit gardaí to seize any bottle or container in the possession of anyone who appears to be under the age of 18 and which the garda suspects contains alcohol.
