Politicians pay tribute to former Ombdusman Mills
Politicians in the Dáil have united today to pay tribute to former Ombudsman Michael Mills, who died at the age of 80 over the weekend.
Mr Mills was a political correspondent with the Irish Press before being appointed as Ireland's first Ombudsman in 1984
In the Dáil today, Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny and Taoiseach-in-waiting Brian Cowen both paid trbute to his achievements in the job, as did Sinn Féin's Caoimhghin O'Caolain and Eamon Ryan of the Green Party.
Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore, meanwhile, praised Mr Mills' journalistic talents, saying his views and opinions were also taken seriously.
