Cavan 'unable to cope with fallout from HSE cutbacks'
Cavan and Monaghan hospitals are said to be facing a catastrophic situation due to a decision by the HSE to discontinue the ventilation facility at Monaghan General Hospital.
Professionals working in the region say Cavan Hospital will now have to find facilities to cope with the extra intake of patients.
Local Sinn Féin TD Caoimhghin O Caolain says Cavan Hospital is already at 160% occupancy.
He says the consultants are complaining, but the HSE isn't listening and is putting lives at risk.
