Finance Minister Brian Cowen and his Stormont counterpart have announced a project to allow Irish companies set up branches in the North while paying southern tax rates.

Mr Cowen and Peter Robinson made the announcement shortly after the latter was chosen by the DUP to replace Ian Paisley as party leader and First Minister.
