Taoiseach's plane struck by lightning

A Government jet carrying Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was struck by lightning as it landed at Belfast City Airport, it emerged this afternoon.

The Gulf Stream aircraft later landed safely and none of the eight passengers or four crew onboard was injured, a Government spokesman said.
