Jail for man who burgled house before killing Chinese student

A convicted killer who is serving a life sentence has been jailed for 18 months at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for a house burglary he committed an hour before he murdered a Chinese student.

Derek Wade (aged 28), broke into the house on South Circular Road, Rialto before he burgled the home of Zhi Song and stabbed him with a knife he had brought with him. He was jailed for life on March 19, 2007 following his murder conviction.
