Gardaí run for charity in Paris
A hundred gardaí took part in the Paris Marathon today to raise money for the charity Goal.
The officers - who are mostly from the Special Detective Unit based at Harcourt Square in Dublin - raised more than €100,000.
The money will be used to build schools for hundreds of children in Calcutta.
Detective Anthony Malone said: "We were inundated with calls from guards all over the country who were interested … the amount of people looking to take part was phenomenal."
