HSE to begin offering consultant jobs on new contracts
The HSE is reportedly set to begin advertising around 100 jobs for new hospital consultants on revised contracts in the coming weeks.
Reports this morning say the recruitment plan is expected to be announced following talks this morning between Health Minister Mary Harney and HSE chief executive Brendan Drumm.
A deal on the new contracts was reached at the start of this year following lengthy talks between consultants and the HSE.
However, the detailed terms of the new contracts have yet to be agreed.
Last week, the Irish Medical Organisation accused the HSE of deliberately procrastinating on a final agreement in order to save money by delaying the recruitment of new consultants.
