Two people escape house fire in Laois

Two people are being treated in hospital following a house fire in Co Laois in the early hours of this morning.

The blaze broke out at about 5am in Garryduff, near Errill.

Two units of the fire brigade from Roscrea and Rathdowney attended the scene and gardaí were also alerted.

The two people in the house are receiving treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known, but gardaí say they are investigating the circumstances.
