Harney slams salary demands from hospital consultants
The Health Minister says salary demands from hospital consultants will not be paid out by the State.
Mary Harney is also welcoming the fact that the Taoiseach will address the Dáil next week over the controversy surrounding evidence of his personal finances at the Mahon Tribunal.
Speaking as she arrived at the IMO's AGM in Killarney, Mary Harney said consultants' are now demanding a salary of over €300,000 per year.
But she says the State will not pay out and is indicating that she is going to push on with the recruitment of new consultants with or without agreement.
