TDs begin three-weeks Easter holiday

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has warned the government against a long summer recess for the Dáil.

Opposition TDs today criticized the length of the Easter break which spans the entire Saint Patrick's weekend, Easter Week and beyond.

They branded Ministers a government-in-exile over the annual flight abroad to promote Ireland during the national holiday.

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore warned that while he was not making a big fuss over the particular way in which the Easter recess fell this year the party would create a row if the Government planned to allow the Dáil rise at the beginning of July and not come back again until the end of September this year.
