Man questioned in connection with death of woman in Kilkenny

Gardaí in Kilkenny are continuing to question a man this morning in connection with the death of a woman in the city during the weekend.

The 42-year-old woman died in hospital on Saturday after being admitted with serious injuries.

Gardaí have refused to disclose any further details, but reports this morning say the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds during an attack at her home in Callan.

The mother-of-five is believed to be originally from England and had been living in the area for less than a year.

The man in garda custody was arrested last night in Cahir, Co Tipperary.
