Cannabis seized in Carlow

Around €150,000 worth of cannabis has been seized by gardaí in Carlow.

Officers targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the county discovered 20kgs of cannabis herb along with a small quantity of cocaine in a house at Kernanstown, Bennekerry.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene was detained at Carlow garda station under section 2 of The Drug trafficking Act.

He was later released without charge.

A garda spokesman said a file will be prepared for The Director of Public Prosecutions.

“The street value of this seizure is believed to be in the region of €150,000, depending on an analysis of the substances seized,” he added.

Members of the Carlow Detective Unit, assisted by uniformed members, raided the property yesterday afternoon.
