Controlled blast carried out on hoax device in Antrim

Bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious device found in Co Antrim in the early hours of this morning.

A security operation was launched after the package was discovered at around 2am in a small wooded area on the Shore Road.

However, following a controlled explosion, the device was declared to be an elaborate hoax.

The PSNI has launched an investigation into the incident.
