Judge suspends man for smuggling drugs into prison

A trusted inmate who smuggled mobile phones and drugs into Mountjoy Prison has been given a three-year suspended sentence by Judge Martin Nolan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Kenneth Owens (aged 32) had been collecting the items when he visited his sick girlfriend’s house while under the supervision of prison officers.
