Blank round fired during attack in Derry

Police in the North are investigating an assault on a man during which a blank round was fired from a pistol.

The incident took place shortly after 8pm last night in Co Derry.

Three masked men forced open the front door of the house and attacked the man with a baton before firing a blank round.

They fled through the front door smashing a window on their way out.

Their victim sustained bruising to the chest but did not require treatment in hospital.

Detectives appealed to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed anything suspicious to help their investigation.
