26-year-old critical after Dublin assault

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a serious assault in the city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It happened at the Abbey Court Hotel on Middle Abbey Street at around 2am this morning.

A 26-year-old man, who was assaulted by a number of men, sustained serious head injuries.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital where his condition is described as being critical.

Gardaí at Store Street are investigating and are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.
