Woman held in connection with Belfast blaze
A woman was arrested by police today in connection with a suspicious fire at flats in south Belfast.
Police and the Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the blaze in Finaghy Road South shortly after midnight.
Firefighters rescued a 37-year-old woman from the bathroom of a flat and she was taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.
A man from a neighbouring flat was also led to safety through heavy smoke by the firefighters.
David Heyburn of the Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews using breathing apparatus entered the heavy smoke and fought their way past the fire in the living room which you had to pass to get to the bathroom.”
