Man with cannabis in couch is jailed for seven years

A three-piece suite of furniture lined with more than €300,000 worth of vacuum-packed cannabis resin was flown in to Cork from South Africa and this evening a man who was caught unpacking it at a flat in the city was jailed for seven years.

Detective Sergeant Lar O’Brien said at Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday that the furniture arrived on a flight from Johannesburg on August 15 2007.
