McCabe killer freed from Castlerea Prison
One of the men convicted of the manslaughter of Detective Garda Jerry McCabe in 1996 has been released from Castlerea Prison this morning.
Jeremiah Sheehy received a 12-year sentence for his role in the killing of Garda McCabe during a botched IRA raid on Adare Post Office in Co Limerick in 1996.
He is the second member of the IRA gang to be freed following Michael O'Neill's release last year.
Two other men, Kevin Walsh and Pearce McAuley, who are both serving 14-year sentences in connection with the killing, are expected to be released next year.
