Hoax bomb causes evacuation in Drogheda

A suspect device found in Drogheda this afternoon has turned out to be an elaborate hoax.

The device was found at 1pm in the public toilets on Georges Square in the town.

The army bomb disposal unit left the scene at around 3.20pm and has said the package was "deliberately made to look like a bomb".

Businesses around the area had to be evacuated and lower Georges Street was closed, casing traffic disruption.
