Gardai appeal for witnesses to 'crime world' shooting
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a shooting in Dublin this afternoon.
Gardaí say the shooting happened shortly after 3pm this afternoon on the Lower Kimmage road.
The man, who is in his 50's is believed to have been shot a number of times as he sat in a car.
He tried to drive away from his attackers but the car crashed a short distance away.
He has been taken to St. James' hospital, the extent of his injuries is not yet known.
It is understood the man may be a key figure in the Dublin crime world, but gardaí have not confirmed this.
The scene of the incident has been sealed off for a technical examination.
