220 jobs to go at Jacobs factory in Tallaght

220 jobs are to go with the closure of the Jacobs biscuit factory in Tallaght.

Jacob Fruitfield says the redundancies are being taken as part of a restructuring of its manufacturing arrangements.

The company says the Belgard road facility is extremely uncompetitive, with outdated equipment and is operating at just 16% of its full capacity.

More than €10m are being set aside in financial support for those losing their jobs.
