Two schools to take on quota of non-Catholic pupils

Two west Dublin Catholic schools are to take on one third of students from other denominations as part of a pilot-project.

The scheme will run for one year at St Patrick’s and St Mochtas schools.

A spokesperson for the Dublin Diocese says the schools want to better reflect the communities around them, which have a high number of immigrants of various religions.

Siblings will continue to be granted priority for places and there are currently no plans to put the scheme in place anywhere else.
